Beef
Biography 2-1
Hi, my name is 2-1! I was born in '69, in the previous century that is.
I'm a guitarist/composer and before playing in BEEF! I played in a band
called "Tree Funk Concept" which was a Zappa-esque powertrio
using funk instead of R&B east/west-coast doowop as the foundation
of musical experimentation. Funk, to me, was anything from P-Funkadelic
to Primus at that time and after five years of clubshows, tours and
being opening act for bands like 24-7 Spyz and The Red Hot Chili Peppers
we made a record called "Out There" released in the previous
century (1995) by Tophole Records. Although there are 16-track tapes of
the follow up on "Out There" which were made in 1996 at the
Torenpleinstudio in Zwolle, they will never see the light of day due to
financial disputes between bandmembers, technicians, management,
recordlabel, publisher and producer. It was near the end of '96 that the
band broke up. Tired of working very hard and long on difficult music
with no commercial potential had taken it's toll.
I went to work in construction while spending my evenings working on a
neo-liberal fairytale for mutated chamber-orchestra called "The
Little Princess" featuring a instrumental-section in three parts
called "The King Of Sushi". This piece was completed in '98,
fully charted and waiting on it's first perfomance in The Hintham Zoo
Vault. Meanwhile I started playing in a barband, a great way to make
some money, and quit working in construction.
In the summer of '99 I got a phone call from Koen Fu saying he had some
stuff he wanted me to hear, I had met Koen Fu in my TFC-days as the
dynamic leadgitarist of City Pig Unit. He send me some tapes of the
underground radio-show he and some friends were doing and I loved it
from beginning to end, eventually resulting in my first appearance on
Friday 19-5-00 as guitarist of BEEF at the Euro 2000 Festival in Arnhem.

Biography Bramskool
I am born on the 15th of September 1968... in 's-Hertogenbosch.
When I was 15 I got in contact with reggae music trough friends who were
playing the music on a gettoblaster in the park.
Since that time I have reggae music in my heart and soul!!!
My first record I ever bought (at the age of 15) was the legendary WA DO
DEM album from EEK A MOUSE and from that time I started to get even more
interested in J.A. music (some favourites like U Roy, SuperCat, Pinchers
and also other close harmony groups like the Abyssinians and Roy Collins
and the Royals).
I started to play acoustic guitar from the age of 21 and within like two
months i played most of Bob Marley's songs.....
When I came to live in Tilburg I met Ras Fire, a truly roots rastaman,
and he asked me if I could play with his group the Righteous Rockers.
So I did and from that point I learned to play roots reggae music as it
should be played. With the Righteous Rocker we played many festivals in
Europe and we also did a few Marley tributes with many different great
singers like Djeyna D, Gabba Longsize, Sister Redlock and many many
more.
In the meantime I started to work with United Sounds Soundsystem.
When I was not playing with the Rockers I joined them when they played
in dancehalls all over Holland. They play 7inch vinyl instrumentals so
singers can sing their song on the riddims and still till this day I
join them once in a while and they also feature BEEF shows.
Every sunday we rehearsed at a place in Tilburg and another band called
City Pig Unit was rehearsing there too so many times they came to visit
us in the rehearsal room to just catch up with the vibe....
When City Pig Unit and the Rockers split up Koen Fu, I Repeat and One
Drop started to jam reggae tunes in the studio so they asked me if I
would join them playing chops, singing and toasting which I did....
Since that day I am a BEEF member bringing some J.A. vibes!!
Biography BOSS-CAT
My name is Bas. I have played reggae since I was eighteen. Before that I
studied the piano for a couple of years. My teacher was the famous (uncle)
Hein Franssen, my mum's brother. I have played reggae for a long time
with all sorts of people, amongst whom Ras Fire, Delidel Touch and Beef
(in an earlier period). When I was 26 I joined Let's Quit. With this
band I did many great gigs. But then Beef came along again. They were
just about to record Flexodus. Beef and I were made for each other
musically and so I decided to go for Beef all the way. One of the best
decisions in my life! What else is there to be said? I have had all
sorts of odd jobs and for the past five years I have worked -part time
of course- as a caretaker at a secondary school. This is a really
pleasant job. Nice for the students to have such a famous caretaker.
Biography KOEN
FU
I am Koen, bassplayer with Beef! and when I'm not playing bass,I
probably be cooking or drawing or taking care of my fish.
I'm especially interested in my tropical aquariums in which I keep a
variety of south-american fish.
I live out in the woods and it's very peacefull out there, so I can
reload every time we come home from doing shows which I like to do as
loud and aggressive as I can.
Playing with Beef is the best job for me, because I used to be a fan of
all the individual players before we joined to form this band.
Biography ONE DROP
Hello, my name is Hansz Deijnen, A.K.A. One Drop. Why One Drop? Because
it is the reggae beat. I started 32 years ago on the 26th. of March in
1970 with three sisters and one brother. Sinds my mother is from Curacao
we listened to a lot of meringue, salsa and of course reggae. At the
time I was 4 years old, my mother started to miss some pots and pans,
and she soon discovered that they where in my room build up as a drum
kit. When I was 14 years old I bought my first drum kit. It was a
transparent Pearl and I was very proud. I also started my first band
named Brick with a couple of friends. We tried to play a cross-over of
funk, punk and reggae. After a year or so I was asked to play in a band
called G.V.D. and with them I played in a lot of squads throughout
Holland. After this band I was into death metal and played in Abscess
for a couple of months. After this band I played with a lot of different
musicians from my home town but this was not satisfying so I auditioned
for Let's Quit, got it and played with them for 3 years, and in this
period I met up with Koen, the guitar player of City Pig Unit. He asked
me if I wanted to audition for his band. Which I did cause I was bored
with Let's Quit and I got to part. So I played with City Pig Unit and
that's when I met up with Pieter. Than after a while some of the
bandmembers had problems with their motivation so Pieter, Koen and I
started recording in studio Pop-ei where I was getting education at that
moment. And that's where Beef started and the rest is history.
