Driftwood DJ Team

Driftwood is a collaboration of three dutch producers: Ron van Kroonenburg, Thijs Ploegmakers and Dirk Jans. Three fanatics who generated a huge response with their first release 'Freeloader'.

Several big names in the international dance scene like Blank & Jones, Cosmic Gate, Armin van Buuren and Dave Pearce support the three guys by playing their records on many occasions. Hence the fact that in Deave Pearce's BBC 1 show, Freeloader got elected "Best of 3" for three weeks in a row!

Now their second track 'Anything Goes' is just released and already played by famous DJ's all over the world.

Meanwhile Driftwood remixes are released of some great tracks by Paffendorf, 4 Strings, Lasgo, Dee Dee, DJ Sammy, Jordan & Baker and Martin Eyerer.

Dirk Jans
Date of Birth: December 18th 1979

The first time Dirk heard the sounds of Public Energy's classic "303-Energy" in the early nineties he was sold! After this experience he became a real house music fanatic.

He started experimenting and practicing on a Commodore-64 computer. When the Dutch Hardcore scene arose, his love for electronic dance music grew bigger and bigger. Nowadays he likes almost every style of dancemusic, from Trance to Techno and Disco to Hardcore.

After investing in some studio equipment most of his time is spent in his studio when not too busy with his education. In the near future he would like to produce a lot of different dancestyles.

Some of his favorite producers are Mauro Picotto, Marco V, Bart Claessen (aka Barthezz) and DJ Promo.

Thijs Ploegmakers
Date of Birth: July 29th 1980

The life of Thijs revolves around music. This passion revealed itself in his early years and from the age of 7 he took pianolessons. At the age of 12 he decided to put a hold on these lessons, but at the age of 19 he picked it up again and resumed taking lessons. He's doing this right until this very day. This time more seriously however, because he's very eager to learn what all those harmonics are all about.

At the age of 14 Thijs discovered the power of House music in the, at that time, very popular dutch Hardcore Scene. Whereas he still loves this music his taste has broadened over time and has spread to almost every kind of dance music.

The strength of Thijs lies in the melodies, therefore he puts almost all his creativity into this aspect. While Thijs is still an economics student, all his spare time is spend on his passion for music.

Producers he likes are; Armin van Buuren, Marco V & Benjamin, Bart Claessen(aka Barthezz) and German producer Oliver Lieb.

Ron van Kroonenburg
Date of Birth: March 25th 1974

As long as Ron can remember he's been fascinated by electronic music. As a young kid he was glued to the television-set when a music show was on.

On the C-64 and Amiga he discovered that making music was something he could do himself. That lead to a series of music demo's, that at that time were embedded in so called hackergroup-demo's and spread around at many conventions.

You might say he's the most experienced musician of Driftwood and a real equipment fanatic which shows in the productional side of driftwood. Since Ron is the only full-time musician of Driftwood, he can be found in his studio almost 24-7-365.

Some of his favorite producers are; Georgio Moroder, Patrick Cowley, Brian Transeau and Alex Neri. That said you can easily tell his taste is very broad ranging from Disco to House and Pop...and Italian food ;-)
